Donna M. Buechler, 76, of Geneseo, passed away Thursday, June 21, 2012 at Geneseo Good Samaritan Village. Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 10:00 am Monday, June 25 at First Lutheran Church, Geneseo. Rev. Dr. Arthur Bergren will officiate. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo. Visitation for Donna will be from 4 – 7 pm Sunday at Vandemore Funeral Home Ltd., Geneseo. Memorials may be directed to the First Lutheran Church or Hammond-Henry Hospital Auxiliary.
Donna was born on January 22, 1936 in Moline, the daughter of Harold and Dorthe (McHenry) Nelson. She graduated from Moline High School. Donna was united in marriage to Lorrin Buechler in October 1953. She worked as a Service Manager at Sears Service Center for 28 years, retiring in 1992. Donna also was a volunteer for Hammond-Henry Hospital Auxiliary for 20 years. She was active in her community and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Donna was a long standing member of First Lutheran Church and the Geneseo Country Club. She loved to read and loved her two Yorkshire Terrier puppies.
Survivors include her husband Lorrin, two children Larry (Donna) of Sherrard and Darcy (Ken) Hebdon of Colorado, six grandchildren Debra, David, Justin, Jacob, Kalen, Sarah, two great grandchildren and her brother Harold (Mary) Nelson, Jr of Knoxville, TN and a step mother Grace Nelson.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

Larry and Donna, We are so saddened by the loss. We just found this it, because, we too, are grieving. We lost Carlyle the day before you lost your mother. I am so sorry to tell you this way. I was so saddened to read this news today. Donna was a distant cousin and we shared genealogy correspondence for over 10 years. It was a pleasure to do so, and I will miss her kindness in answering my questions. My sincere condolences to her family and friends.
