George T. Jolly, 87 of Geneseo our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, passed away Monday, July 30, 2012 at Trinity Rock Island. Cremation rites will be accorded. There will be no services or visitation.  Memorials may be directed to the Abilities Plus. Vandemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Geneseo is assisting the family with arrangements.

George was born on May 6th, 1925 in Eagle River, WI to George and Jennie(Deyneka) Jolly. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1943, where he was a radio operator which took him thru the Mediterranean, Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. George was united in marriage to Alice Carlson on November 3rd, 1948 and celebrated 63 years of marriage. He was in construction first for John Nelson, then John Dahlen, then formed a partnership with Paul Kropp known as Kropp & Jolly. After which very sadly Paul died and George continued on as Jolly Construction.  George was a member of American Legion and VFW. His favorite pastimes were fishing, golfing, bowling and doing puzzles in the newspaper. He truly loved his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Alice, two sons Donald, Douglas (Colleen) Jolly,  grandchildren Jason and Melissa Jolly, George and Merrian Jolly all of Geneseo and Cara Jolly of L.A., CA, and great grandchildren Elizabeth, Kassandra and Alexia Jolly.

He was preceded in death by his son Dale.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Jolly family for the loss of George. He was a great man, an excellent hunting partner, and would do anything for you. He was like a grandfather to me while I was growing up, and he will be missed.
