Brian Keith Moffitt left us on Friday, May 18th 2012 enjoying what he loved to do. Cremation rites were preformed according to his wishes. The family would like to invite you to share remembrances between the hours of 4:00 and 7:00 pm, Saturday, May 26, 2012 at 409 S Center St., Geneseo. Memorials may be left to the Brian Moffitt Memorial Fund to help offset medical costs for his son Keith, who was injured in the accident.

Brian was born on December 26, 1960 in Sterling, IL to Janet and Lexie Moffitt. He attended Riverdale Schools. Brian was a member of First United Methodist Church, Hillsdale, IL. He was united in marriage to Ronda Ballard in 1984. Brian was the proud father of Anna Abbey, Sarah Moffitt, Emmalee (Andy) Hilburn, Keith Moffitt, and Ashley (Brad) Knudtson. He was the exceptionally proud grandfather of Joseph Griffin, Xavier Wright, Conrad Knudtson and Lynnlee Hilburn.

Brian was a welder/fabricator for 35 years and was the owner/operator of Moffitt Steel Fabrication. During his career he worked in several parts of country and developed an expertise that enabled him to claim that he once welded on the space shuttle. He enjoyed NASCAR, conversations with good friends, and especially spending time with his family.

In 2003 he married Bette Dilenbeck and his family grew to include her children Katy (Ross) Meyer, Miranda Lipes, and Josie Lipes (fiancé Steve Kearns). Bette and Brian were infamously inseparable, creating many special memories. His contagious laughter and kind words will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his mother, brothers Steve Moffitt, Rapids City; and Bruce Moffitt, Preston, IA, a sister Annette (Rod) Huffaker, North Richard Hills, TX, and Leia his ever present companion.

Preceded him in death are his father and an infant daughter Miranda Mae.

Dear Steve and family,
Brian and I started school together and I have many happy and funny memories of those years at Riverdale. He always made us laugh and showed everyone the bright side of life. I don''t think anyone ever said a bad thing about him......
And yes, he was very proud of his kids!! That''s all he ever talked about. I will miss running in to Brian out and about and reliving the good old days. I will miss his wonderful humor and that big smile. I will miss my friend.

Dear Janet,Steve,Bruce, and Susie, I am so sorry for your loss. Brian was a really, really good person. He touched so many people''s lives and was loved by so many. I''ll always remember him as the kid brother who looked up to his big brothers and sister and who loved his family with all his heart.I was lucky enough to run into Brian a few years ago at a Johnny Winter concert at the COL Ballroom. We sat and shared a few beers and talked about old times. He said he never forgot the time Suzy and I took him for a ride in my ''71 Dodge Challenger at 130 mph. Janet, I know this is so hard on a loving mom like you but your faith in the Lord and your family will help get you thru. My prayers are with all of you and I wish you all the best-- you are all such good people! I''m So Sorry! bruce

I send my love and condolences to family and friends that Brian left behind. Circumstances such as these always make me aware of my own mortality and regrets throughout life. I only wish we weren't all so far away from each other, far enough away to be strangers, but we share blood and the connection of family and nothing can change that.

Uncle Brian, you will be missed! I am sorry that it has been so long since I've been up there to visit. I can only hope that you're in a better place now.

My prayers are with Keith as he goes through a tough recovery and of course my prayers of comfort to the rest of the family.

All my love,
Haley
