Dr. Arthur Bergren will officiate.  Burials will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Geneseo where the TSA Honor Guard will present Honors.  Visitation for Scott and Luke will be held from 3-8 pm Wednesday at Vandemore Funeral Homes, Ltd., Geneseo, IL.  Memorials may be left to the Scott & Luke Teerlinck memorial fund.

Scott passed away Friday June 14th and Luke passed away Saturday June 15th from injuries sustained from a motorcycle accident outside of Colona.  Luke was able to give the gift of life by being an organ donor.

Luke was born October 21, 2002 in Silvis to Scott and Jill (Halverson) Teerlinck.  He was a student at Southwest Elementary School where he had just finished 4th grade.  He had also just finished summer learning adventures.

Luke was a member of First Lutheran Church in Geneseo.  He enjoyed Geocaching and motorcycling with his dad.  He also enjoyed spending time with his family and bugging his sister, gymnastics, Faithtime at First Lutheran, art & crafts, reading, watching tv, and relaxing at home.

Luke is survived by his mother: Jill Teerlinck; sister: Brenna Teerlinck, at home; grandparents: Marion Teerlinck, Geneseo, Mickey & Marilyn Halverson, Geneseo; several aunts, uncles, cousins and second cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather Dean Teerlinck.

Scott was born July 25, 1973 in Geneseo, Il to Dean and Marion (DePorter) Teerlinck.  He graduated in 1991 from J.D. Darnall High School in Geneseo and went on to graduate from St. Ambrose with a Bachelors in law enforcement.  He married Jill A. Halverson on August 3, 1996 in Geneseo.  Scott worked as a security officer of OSF, a correctional officer at the Henry County Jail and a juvenile probation officer for Henry County.  Scott had been a volunteer firefighter for the Geneseo Fire Department.  Scott Teerlinck began his career with the Transportation Security Administration in 2002 as a Security Screener at the Quad City International Airport. He was promoted to the position of Lead Transportation Security Officer in 2003 and to Supervisory Transportation Security Officer in 2006.  In 2008, Scott began work as a Master TSO in the Moline Coordination Center before becoming a field based Program Specialist working for the Operational Requirements C3 office.  Scott was one of 3 TSA Telecommunications Specialists providing contingency communications capabilities to airports nationwide.  Scott’s primary responsibilities included the installation, testing, and maintenance of contingency communications equipment as well as the training of the equipment’s operators.   Scott provided assistance with land mobile radios, mobile communications assets, interoperability with other government agencies, and any special communications needs.  Scott assisted the TSA’s Downstate Illinois District Mobile Deployment Team with training, deployment, and maintenance of the North Central Mobile Communications Trailer, a mobile asset equipped with a suite of communications capabilities that can be deployed anywhere in the United States.  Scott traveled to airports throughout the country to provide contingency communications support and he participated in special events, including working with a team that provided communications capabilities at the Presidential Inauguration in Washington D.C.

Scott enjoyed being a ham radio operator.  He loved being with his wife and kids, Geocaching, camping and grilling out.

Scott is survived by his wife Jill Teerlinck; mother: Marion Teerlinck of Geneseo: daughter: Brenna Teerlinck, at home; brother Mike (Gail) Teerlinck, Geneseo; sister: Bonnie Swanson, Pompano Beach, FL.

Jill, Marian & Family, There are no words to express the grief we are feeling for your loss. Scott was like a 2nd son to us. As he and Sean were growing up it was alway Scott & Sean or Sean & Scott. We have so many memories of the boys together. I will never foget their 1st day of school, they wore matching red shirts with their names on the back. Sean was afraid to go to school, but Scott took his hand and together they got on the bus.

Dear Jill and Brenna, and Family Members,

May God's protective Eagle wings surround you with comfort and grace, with every sunrise and sunset of each and every day. Heaven is a beautiful galaxy in our midst and touch, as I can imagine Scott and Luke "put-putting" together with Grandpa Dean. They can hear your voices, your words, your tears, your sorrow, and your activities together...all of the time and wherever you go. May you find peace and tranquility knowing they are free from pain and in the arms of Our Father.

I had the privilege of working with Scott for nearly six years and got to know him as a rock solid guy full of integrity and a great work ethic. His quiet demeanor and warm smile could win you over in a heartbeat. Scott set the bar high for himself and had great expectations of others. His communication skills and his desire to help others develop made him a wonderful mentor for the organization and highly respected by his colleagues. Scott was a true pillar in the successful establishment of the TSA in Moline. I consider myself very fortunate to have known and worked with Scott---you could always sense that he was made from fine threads. My condolences to all of the family.

So so saddened by this. My father died in a motorcycle crash the same way, back in 1971, a car turning in front of him. Reading the biography of Scott tells me he was a very dedicated and valuable member of the law enforcement community. And it is never ok when an innocent 10 year old dies. Prayers going up for the family.

Scott and I were hired at the same time back in 1999 at the Henry County Sheriff's Office. Shortly after we were hired we got sent to Peoria for training together. We had a blast!! When we got back, we were both on 3rd Shift in the Jail. We worked together for 2 years dealing with the worst people you can think of. Scott always had my back. I could go on and on but really I have no words that can take back what happened. Jill you do your thing, and know that God is taking good care of Scott and Luke. If you need anything call me.

My deepest sympathies to the Teerlinck family ... your loss is felt by many you may never have heard about, and it is heavy. I had the priviledge of having Scott as my training officer for our TSA-Memphis MARS radio program in Feb. 2010 ... and I know his dedication and work ethic was passed on in all he shared.

As a parent I sense the loss of child even deeper ... so much potential yet untapped ... yet even in the shortest of time they can have an impact that is more noticable when they are taken too early.

Grief will pass ... and memories will surround you and you will smile deeper and warmer ... I pray that time comes soon for you all.

I'm relatively new to TSA's Preparedness & Response Section, of which Scott was a key member, and as I'm in the Washington area, and Scott assigned to our field force, I had just one opportunity to meet him in person before last Friday's tragic event. I regret I'll never have another opportunity to get to know him better. But judging by the high esteem in which he was held by all of his TSA colleagues, myself included, his loss is something we all share together. I therefore wish to express my heartfelt condolences to Scott's wife, and daughter, and other surviving members of his family. Very respectfully, John Del Campo

I shared numerous times with Scott that he should have his priorities straight: take care of yourself, your family and your community and if those areas of your life are healthy, you will be the best employee a boss could ask for. Needless to say, Scott was one of the best. Hard working, dedicated and loved by all. I know there are no words that I can say to ease the pain of the loss of Scott and Luke. I had the pleasure of knowing and working with Scott for almost a year. His smile was genuine and a true window to his soul. I too have a 10 year old son named Luke who loves to ride with me. Scott and I had exchanged numbers, but never had the opportunity to ride together. It won't be here, but we'll have that chance one day. My heart aches for you and Brenna.

When people say that there are "no good men left in this country", they have not met Scott. Scott was one of the good men. Scott was one of the most honest people I know. I don't know anyone that had anything bad to say about Scott and I never heard Scott say anything bad about anyone. I will miss seeing him walk down the hallway at the airport with that little smile when I'd stop and tell him good morning. I will miss his honesty and professionalism. Jill, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family and always know "you had one of the good ones."

Scott was soft-spoken, always positive, focused on the mission, always willing to help anyone, a true leader and a very dedicated family man. Scott’s favorite topic was talking about his family. It is with a saddened and heavy heart that I am writing this, to hear the news about Scott and his son was devastating as well as shocking. Scott was such a kind, warm individual that made you feel like he had known you for a long time. Anytime that I have had to call Scott concerning radio communications, no matter how small my problem he always took the time to help me and guide me through my dilemma. Having only met him twice in person were the times that I will always have in my memory of such a good man. Scott and Luke were amazing blessings to all that knew them. Scott was always so kind, calm, and helpful. Many stories come to mind.... helping me figure out the power washer.... cooking dinner for Alex when she had playdates....always seeing him outside grilling.....he always had the kindest smile. Luke, what a joyous little spirit! He had such kindness in him also; one of the nicest kids I have met. We always joked about how boys were easier.... but with Luke it wasn't just because he was a boy.... it was what was inside of his little heart. A kindness in his spirit.... a spirit and soul that lives on. I still cannot comprehend in my heart and mind this devastation. Losing them too soon, much, much, too soon. Please know that we care and that we love you. Our prayers will be continued for you and your sweet Brenna. <3

Watching him move up so quickly at work, and adding to his family at home was a joy. We discovered we liked the same places to eat in Peoria, and would rub it in whenever one of us got to indulge in a gondola at Avantis! I stopped at Avantis on Fathers day when I went into town and shared gondolas, and your picture/story with my family. God bless your girls; they have the best Angels watching over them. My Uncle is William (Billy) Eaker, my Aunt Chrissy Eaker asked me to pray for a family who had lost their father and son. My heart broke instantly. Then I learned that the son was an organ donor and my heart screamed for joy for the recipients. Then I thought about the daughter and how terrible it must be to lose your father days before the day set aside to praise and adore our fathers. Then I thought about the wife, holding the daughter, and Jesus holding the wife.
Jesus holds us when we are suffering like a mother holds her child who is suffering.
I have prayed for you and added you to prayer chains and my heart has broken for you every time I think of you.
May God comfort you always.

We are so very sorry for your loss. Our hearts are heavy for you and words fail to convey the depth or far reaching effects of this double tragedy. Luke was one of Thomas' favorite friends in preschool and he always spoke fondly of him. Luke was kind and compassionate with a maturity beyond his years. Both Scott and Luke will be greatly missed by all who knew them.

You are daily in our thoughts and prayers and we trust that somehow, God is going to bring hope and good out of this tragedy. May He shine a light into your darkness and give you the strength to go on without your dear Scott and Luke by your side.

I only met Scott a few times, but in those moments you could tell what an amazing person he was. How much he loved his babies, and the love he had for his wife. None of this makes sence and it never will while we are still here on Earth. But there is a rhyme.. there is a reason. You're heart will never heal, so I won't wish you that, I wish for you that one day there will be a peace, and you will learn to smile again. I found this post and I feel it is very fitting for Scott.

I read of a man who stood to speak at the funeral of a friend. He referred to the dates on her tombstone, from the beginning…to the end. He noted that first came the date of her birth and spoke of the following date with tears, but he said what mattered most of all was the dash between those years. For that dash represents all the time that she spent alive on earth. And now only those who loved her know what that little line is worth. For it matters not, how much we own, the cars…the house…the cash. What matters is how we live and love and how we spend our dash. So, think about this long and hard. Are there things you’d like to change? For you never know how much time is left that can still be rearranged. If we could just slow down enough to consider what’s true and real and always try to understand the way other people feel. And be less quick to anger and show appreciation more and love the people in our lives like we’ve never loved before. If we treat each other with respect and more often wear a smile, remembering that this special dash might only last a little while. So, when your eulogy is being read, with your life’s actions to rehash… would you be proud of the things they say about how you spent YOUR dash?

You have my deepest sympathy and my most profound respect at this tragic time. As the widow of a wonderful man who died while #1 on the transplant list, I can appreciate your selfless decision. God bless you.

I am with the TSA and a long time colleague of Scott's. Scott was sincere, dedicated, and professional in every way. He stood out even among the most qualified and experienced group. His calming presence and genuine interest in sharing his expertise helped make each of us stronger and we are better because of Scott. May God guide you toward healing and comfort.

I just found out about Scott's passing. I remember when I was at BMI, Scott and I would interview together at new hire assessments. He had a great sense of humor, often talked of his family, and I always looked forward to working with him. My thoughts and prayers are with your family during this difficult time.
