Ann E. Sturtewagen, 90, of Atkinson, IL, passed away on April 13, 2024, at Hammond Henry Hospital-Geneseo. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, from 4:00-7:00PM at Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory-Atkinson Chapel. Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 3:30 PM prior to the visitation. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church- Atkinson with Rev S. Stephen Engelbrecht celebrating. She will be laid to rest at St. Anthony’s Cemetery-Atkinson. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made in her name to St. Anthony’s Catholic Church or Atkinson Fire and Rescue. Ann was born on September 4, 1933, in Kewanee, IL, the daughter of Lewis and Kathryn (Brennan) Fischer. She graduated from Kewanee High School, Class of 1951. She married Donavon “Don” Sturtewagen on September 20, 1952, in Kewanee and he preceded her in death on September 8, 1999. Ann helped her husband Don with ownership and operation of Don’s T.V. in Atkinson for 45 years. She was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Atkinson where she was on the Altar and Rosary Society. Ann was also involved in the Atkinson Women’s Club, Library Board and was a Girl Scout Leader. She loved playing cards and games, 10 pin bowling, watching the Chicago Cubs and was an avid reader. She especially loved spending time with her family and attending her grandchildren’s sporting events.
Those left to cherish her memory are children; Lynn (Denny) DeSplinter, Mark (Shelly) Sturtewagen, Jean (Brent) Ericson, Lisa (Tyler) Spivey, and Michael (Marie) Sturtewagen, brother, David Fischer, grandchildren; Nell (Reed) McAllister, Barry DeSplinter, Sara (Chad) Mateske, Adam (Laura) Sturtewagen, Erin (Jason) Kemp, Nick (Katie) Ericson; Jared (Cassidy) Spivey, Lauren (Luke) Wall, Weston Spivey and Ryan Sturtewagen, great grandchildren; Riley, Brennan, Morgan, Connor, Noah, Scarlett, Will, Kyra, Colin, Keeley, Donavon, Andrew, Ryan, Ava, Ada, Vivia and Blair.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Kathryn Fischer and one sister and brother-in-law, Mary Helen (Art) Pearson and sister-in-law, Barb Fischer.
