Marie Ann Hoffman, 80, of Atkinson, passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at Allure of Geneseo. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Atkinson. Reverend Stephen Engelbrecht will officiate. Cremation rites will be accorded following the service and inurnment will be held at a later date. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m., on Saturday, at Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Atkinson Chapel. Memorials may be directed to Atkinson Fire & Rescue, St. Anthony Catholic Church, and the family.
Marie was born November 11, 1943, the daughter of Lawrence Frederick and Anna Caroline (Modaff) Hoffman, in Aurora, IL. She graduated high school and went on to obtain a master’s degree from Western Illinois University. She was employed as a teacher for Atkinson Community Unit #233 Schools from 1966-1988 and Geneseo Community Unit #228 Schools from 1988-1995. Marie was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and was a member of the 4-H Club where she participated in activities for many years. She enjoyed crafts, breakfast and luncheons with friends, and traveling. She participated in the United States Singletons where she was the national president from 1991-1992.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sisters, Jane (Bill) Brickert, Nancy Kaltenecker, and Karen (Les) Barnes; several nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and nephews; and special lifelong friend, Stacey (Jeff) (Oldfield) Page, and their daughter, Rhiannon.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Anna Hoffman; and brother and sister-in-law, Larry (Audrey) Hoffman.
