Marty was born on June 7, 1955, in Kewanee, the son of Wade and Maurine Chapman. He graduated from Annawan High School in 1973 where he met his beautiful wife, Annie (Hudders) Chapman. Marty married Annie on September 10, 1977, and together they had three children and made a home in Annawan, IL.
He retired in 2021 from Geneseo Telephone Company after dedicating 31 years of service. Throughout his career, he was known for his hard work, dedication, and passion for helping others. Retirement was only a word to Marty. He stayed busy with his other passions including trapping coyotes, farming, and watching old western shows, especially Gunsmoke.
But more than anything, Marty was a devoted father and grandfather. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, sharing stories, playing cards (usually winning!), listening to 70’s rock and drinking Busch Light. He was always there to offer guidance, support, and encouragement, no matter what challenges they faced.
Marty is survived by his loving wife, Annie Chapman; children, Dan Chapman, Andy (Erin) Chapman, Tom (Lindsey Wheeler) Chapman; grandchildren, Alex and Jack Chapman; brothers, Mike (Sharon) Chapman, Markus Chapman, Maurus (Julie) Chapman, John (Susan) Chapman; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Marty was proceeded in death by his parents, Wade and Maurine Chapman; and sister-in-Law, Terry Chapman. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him.
