Ruth Marie (Wager) Boelens

Ruth Marie Boelens, 88, of Atkinson, IL, passed away on April 7, 2024, peacefully at her home. A memorial visitation will be held from 9-11 AM on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory-Atkinson Chapel. Memorial service will follow at 11:00 AM with Jeff Roman officiating at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at Grandview Cemetery-rural Atkinson. Ruth was born on August 20, 1935, in Kewanee, IL, the daughter of Norman and Helen (Strom) Wager. She married Oscar Boelens in Kewanee, IL, on October 15, 1955, at the First United Methodist Church. He preceded her in death on February 28, 1988. Ruth was a member of SonRise Congregational Church in Atkinson. She loved spending time in her flower garden, was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and doing word search puzzles.

The family would like to especially thank Sue who helped Ruth in so many ways.

Those left to cherish her memory are sons; Mike Boelens of Atkinson and Ken (Diane) Boelens of Geneseo, brothers; Walter, James and Larry Wager, grandchildren; Cody Boelens, Dalton Boelens and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Oscar Boelens, sisters; Norma Jean Hardy and Mary Ann Zapisek and brother-in-law, Robert Hardy.
