William "Bill" Leskanich Obituary

William J. Leskanich, 53, of Ottawa, IL (formerly of Ancona, IL) passed away Sunday April 7, 2024, at his residence.  Cremation rites have been accorded and a funeral mass will be held on Friday, April 26. 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Malachy Catholic Church in Geneseo, IL.  Inurnment will follow the services at 1:00 p.m. at Rock Island National Cemetery.  Military honors will be provided by the Moline American Legion Post #246.  In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family asks that memorials be directed to the Streator Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition.

Bill was born November 14, 1970, in Streator, IL, the son of Edward and Marcella (Hanusik) Leskanich.  He attended the Woodland School district and graduated from Woodland High School.  Bill proudly served in the United States Marines during the Desert Shield/Desert Storm Conflict as part of the 2nd Marine Division, 2nd Tank Battalion.  Following his time in the Marines, Bill attended the University of Illinois and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. He worked through the years for Exelon. He was of the Catholic faith.

Bill is survived by a son, Joshua (Margaret Lesser) Leskanich of Bloomington, IL; a daughter, Anita Leskanich of Pensacola, Florida; former wife Heather (Klein) Leskanich of Ancona, IL, his mother, Marcella Leskanich of Ancona, IL; siblings, Diane (Phillip) Spaniol, Lynda (Kevin) Williams, Debbie (Dirk) Locascio, Butch (Karen) Leskanich, and Mark (Georgia) Leskanich.

He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Leskanich.
