Biography
Marilyn L. Klundt, 81, of Colona, passed away, Saturday, July 3, 2010 at the Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis. Funeral services celebrating her life will be held 10:30 am Friday, July 9, 2010 at the Vandemore Funeral Home Ltd., Geneseo. Rev. Mike McBride will officiate. Burial will be in the Grandview Cemetery, rural Atkinson. Visitation for Marilyn will be from 5-8 pm Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Marilyn Klundt Memorial Fund.
Marilyn was born on August 29, 1928 in Keithsburg, IL; the daughter of Walter and Sue (Thomas) Speck. She was united in marriage to Albert K. Klundt on December 2, 1948 in Ophiem, IL; he preceded her in death in 2008. Marilyn was a L.P.N. for 40 years for several area nursing homes from which she retired in 2010. She was a member of Atkinson Congregational Church. Marilyn enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, flower gardening & yard work. She also enjoyed cooking & baking and especially spending time with her family.
Survivors include her daughter & spouse Nancy & David VanNieuwenhuyse, Kewanee; three grandsons & spouse James & Kerry VanNieuwenhuyse, Geneseo; John VanNieuwenhuyse, Galva; Jason VanNieuwenhuyse, Rhinelander, WI; three great grandchildren Amanda, Erika and Hunter, and a sister Betty Bacorn, Colona.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers and four sisters.
