Life Legacy
Helen M. Snodgrass, 96, of Geneseo, passed away Monday, July 19, 2010 at Hammond-Henry Hospital, Skilled Care Unit, Geneseo. Funeral services celebrating her life will be held 10:30 am Thursday, July 22, 2010 at First United Methodist Church, Geneseo. Rev. Dr. Christopher Ritter will officiate. Burial will be in the Dayton Corners Cemetery, Colona. Visitation for Helen will be from 5-7 pm Wednesday at Vandemore Funeral Home Ltd., Geneseo; where an Order of the Eastern Star Service will be held at 7 pm. Memorials may be directed to the Hammond-Henry Hospital new building fund.
Helen was born on June 29, 1914 in Knox County, IL the daughter of Earl and Pearl (Taylor) Thompson. She was united in marriage to Harley L. Snodgrass on February 25, 1932, in Geneseo; he preceded her in death 1997. Helen had been a cook at Growth Daycare, Geneseo for several years, and also assisted her husband farming in rural Geneseo. Helen was a member of the First United Methodist Church, and was very active in various church activities including being a member of the Methodist Women’s Group, and the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #275 for 68 years. Helen enjoyed sewing, gardening and cooking.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law Jerry & Pam Snodgrass, Geneseo; a grandson and spouse Justin & Jennifer Snodgrass; two great grandchildren Addison and Luke Snodgrass.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter Tracey Snodgrass, two sisters, and two brothers.
