Frieda D. Couve

Frieda D. Couve, 90, of Geneseo, formerly of rural Atkinson passed away Monday, July 19, 2010 at Geneseo Good Samaritan Village. A funeral service celebrating her life will be held ¬¬2:00 pm Saturday, July 24, 2010 at Church of Peace, rural Kewanee. Rev. Dan Craig will officiate. Burial will be in the Church of Peace Cemetery, Kewanee. Visitation for Frieda will be from 5-7 pm Friday at Vandemore Funeral Home Ltd, Geneseo. Memorials may be directed to Church of Peace or Atkinson Rescue Squad.
Frieda was born on August 9, 1919 in Kewanee, the daughter of Albert & Lydia (Mueller) Bailleu. She attended Kewanee schools. Frieda was united in marriage to William A. Couve on August 17, 1940 in Kewanee; he preceded her in death in 2002. She assisted her husband William farming in rural Atkinson for many years. Frieda was a member of Church of Peace, Lydia Circle, and Church Women’s Guild. She loved working outdoors and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law Linda & Jim Carton, Atkinson; Edith & Doug Block, Pearl City, IL; eight grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter Alice Hackwith in 1999 and two brothers Herman & Arnold.
