“The Vandemore Way” means to offer excellent, compassionate, sincere, quality care to everyone you meet.
That got us thinking...
With all the negativity that goes on in the world, wouldn’t it be nice to recognize those members of society that honor Joel’s legacy by showing compassion, sincerity, and are just being kind?
So, whether it is a someone helping an elderly neighbor with their lawn, a current student welcoming a new student in school, or a person picking up trash alongside the road - whatever the case may be, now is the time to shine a spotlight on their generous spirit! Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory would love for you to nominate someone in your community that represents “The Vandemore Way” so that we may feature them on the website and our Facebook page.
Everly and Emmett
Lynn Center, IL
Everly and Emmett, of Lynn Center, IL, have taken on The Vandemore Way full steam ahead! Last month they picked up trash in their community.
Now for August, they decided to donate all their harvest from their very first garden to go to the wonderful residents at Hope Creek Nursing Home in East Moline. This is caring, kindness, and compassion at it's finest! Leave it to the little one's to show the rest of us the guiding light to uniting communities!
Thank you for showing us The Vandemore Way extends to all generations!
I would like to nominate Alan Kiser for the Vandemore way.
As director of the Maple City Band, he spends hours every summer planning and
directing. This year, due to COVID restrictions, the band has not been able to
practice or perform. Alan could have sat back and enjoyed his time off. But
instead, he took it upon himself to put together two virtual concerts
online, including a link to donate toward organizations that would
usually benefit from ice cream social income. He included not only audio and video
recordings of the band, but also photos of community members, military
personnel, and essential workers. Because of the hours he spent on this, two
community organizations received thousands of dollars in donations and those of
us stuck at home got a taste of a “normal “ Tuesday night at the park. Alan
Kiser definitely demonstrates the characteristics of the Vandemore Way!
Way to go! Thank you for your community service. That is the VANDEMORE WAY!

I would like to nominate Linda Morrison of
Geneseo to be recognized as being part of The Vandemore Way movement!
She’s a beloved retired Geneseo Elementary school teacher and coach. She
keeps busy day and night making the most wonderful masks for anyone who
needs/wants them. She has made almost 2000 masks out of the most
wonderful quilting fabrics. She gives them away for free and never turns
anyone away. She came up with her own pattern and they are absolutely the
best masks, sewn with love and compassion for ALL! She’s the BEST!
Way to go LInda, you respresent THE VANDEMORE WAY to a T!
Nominated By Kristin Mathews
Emmett and Everly

Emmett wanted to do something to help his community. So with his mom's permission, Emmett and his sister, Everly, took action!
They each grabbed a trash bag and walked both sides of their long country road picking up trash.
Way to go Emmett and Everly!
