Anez R. Emmerson

Anez R. Emmerson, 93, of Geneseo, IL, passed away Thursday, June 14, 2018, at Good Samaritan Village in Geneseo.  A Funeral Mass celebrating her life will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 18, at St. Malachy Catholic Church, Geneseo.  Father Michael Pakula will celebrate.  Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo.  Visitation will be from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 17, at Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory, Geneseo Chapel, where a Rosary will be at 3:30 p.m. prior to the visitation. A Women of the Moose service will be held following the visitation.  Memorials may be made to St. Malachy Catholic Church, St. Malachy Catholic School, or Women of the Moose.

Anez was born on November 10, 1924, in Geneseo, the daughter of Leon and Irma (VanLancker) Franck.  She was united to Rene Emmerson on March 2, 1946, at St. Malachy Church. He preceded her in death on January 29, 2012.  Anez farmed alongside her husband in rural Geneseo for many years and moved into town when they retired.

Anez was very active in her community.  She was a member of St. Malachy Catholic Church, Altar and Rosary Circle #14, Queen of Victory, American Legion Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary, and Women of the Moose.  She enjoyed quilting, playing bingo, and rolle bolle.  Most of all she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived her daughters, Sharon (Stan) Griffin of Geneseo, and Shirley (Sam) Hurt of Moline, IL; her son, Steve (Sue) Emmerson of Geneseo; nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; and brother, Leon (Maria) Franck of Shorewood, IL. Anez is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Norma Emmerson, Sheffield, Rosemary Franck, Cambridge, and Donna Franck, Grapeview, WA, and brother-in-law, Kenneth Rodgers, Manlius, IL.
