Arden D. “Ardie” Clementz, 73, of Annawan, passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2019, at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, Iowa City, IA. A Funeral Mass to celebrate his life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 10, 2019, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Annawan. Reverend S. Stephen Engelbrecht will celebrate. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday, June 9, 2019, from 3 – 6 p.m. at the church. The Rosary will be recited at 2:30 p.m. Memorials may be directed to Annawan-Alba Fire Department & Rescue Squad. Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Atkinson Chapel is assisting with arrangements.
Arden was born October 16, 1945, the son of Arlo and Edna (Croegaert) Clementz, in Geneseo. He attended Annawan High School, graduating in 1963. He married Nancy R. Reynolds on May 12, 1973, in Freeport, IL. Ardie was employed by John Deere Harvester Works, as an industrial laborer, for thirty years, retiring in 1994. He was on the Annawan-Alba Fire Department & Rescue Squad for over 50 years. He was a member of the Annawan Bolders Club, where he was the Treasurer and President. He was an avid rolle bolle player, and even taught rolle bolle for the Annawan High School physical education class. He enjoyed watching stock car racing, the Chicago Cubs, and following the Annawan Braves sporting events.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Nancy; daughter, Trina (Kevin) Burns, Davenport, IA; son, Troy (Erin) Clementz, Mineral, IL; two grandchildren, Faith and Evan Burns; sister, Sandra Pottorf, Easton, IL; sister-in-law, Joann Clementz, Kewanee.
Ardie was preceded in death by his parents, Arlo and Edna, his brother, Blair, and his brother-in-law, Dean Pottorf.
