Barbara J. Bell

Barbara J. Bell, 87, of Geneseo, passed away on Sunday, June 25, 2017, at Hammond Henry Hospital in Geneseo. Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 28 at 11:00 a.m. at Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory in Geneseo. Burial will take place at North Cemetery in Geneseo. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service, from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Memorials may be left in Barbara’s memory to the Geneseo Humane Society.

Barbara was born on December 27, 1929, the daughter of Elbert and Cassie (Goembel) Douglas in Geneseo, IL. She married Robert L. Bell on August 4, 1950, in Piggot, Arkansas. He preceded her in death in 2008. Barbara worked as a homemaker and raised three beautiful daughters. Her family meant the world to her. She was an avid reader, yard sale shopper, and gardener. Barbara also loved to tend to her birds and enjoyed cooking for her family.

Survivors include her daughters, Brenda (Ken) Chapin of Princeton, IA, Bobbie Bell of Geneseo, and Cassie (Ralph) Sanders, Bruce Township, MI; grandchildren, Amanda (Michael) McTauge, Dubuque, IA, John Chapin, Cordova, IL, Jarrod (Dawn) Collins, Geneseo, IL, Brandon (Rose) Collins, Geneseo, IL and Rebecca Sanders, Bruce Township, MI; great-grandchildren, Brooklynn Chapin, Melissa & Annamae McTague, Quinn Collins of Geneseo, and Grant Collins; and sister-in-law, Marie Douglas, East Moline, IL.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Robert, her parents, four brothers, and five sisters.
