Christine L. Sullivan passed away peacefully at home on August 31. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 9, at First United Methodist Church in Geneseo with Reverend Christopher Ritter officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 8, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Vandemore Funeral Home in Geneseo. A private burial will be held on Monday, September 10. Chris was born on June 1, 1954, in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of James and Jackie Sprinkle. She graduated from Palatine High School in 1972. She attended Cornell College, where she met her husband. She graduated from Illinois State University in 1976.
She worked several jobs throughout her life including waitressing, sales, and an aerobics instructor. In recent years, she was the Director of Congregational Care at First United Methodist Church in Geneseo, and retired after over ten years of service. Chris was a devoted believer in Jesus Christ with a servant’s heart, loved by the entire congregation. Chris loved to dance and was a member of a dance troupe that toured Europe during college. She performed liturgical dance for her church. She performed and taught dance at any opportunity. Her hobby was caring for people. She always sent someone a card or note, make a phone call to catch up, or bought a special gift to express her love for family and friends.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Doug; sons, Matthew and Kyle; daughter, Lauren (Jeriah) Williams; mother and father; three brothers, Jim, Scott, and Kurt; sister, Laurie; and her mother-in-law, Gramma Dee. She had a special love for her grandsons, Greyson and Miles, and her granddaughter, Bianca. She loved her dog, Ellie.
