Clarence F. Drescher, 86, of Cambridge, passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2019, at Marigold Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Galesburg, IL. Cremation rites have been accorded. No services will be held. The family will have a private inurnment at a later date at Rosedale Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Cambridge Fire & Ambulance Service and St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Geneseo Chapel will be assisting with arrangements.
Clarence was born on October 11, 1932, the son of Fred and Bernice (Andrews) Drescher, in Osco, IL. He married Lauretta J. Swanson on May 6, 1951, in Geneseo. Clarence was a mechanic at the former Drescher Pontiac car dealership, in Cambridge. He managed the Community Bowling Lanes for several years. He was a crop adjuster for Rain & Hail Insurance Company in Johnston, IA. for 26 years. He was a member of Orion Christian Church and a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge in Cambridge. He was a volunteer for over 30 years at the Cambridge Fire Department. Clarence was an avid woodworker.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 68 years, Lauretta; daughters, Denise (Jeff) Adkison, Washington, IA, and Regina Page, Indianapolis, IN; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Bernice, two brothers, Bill and Jim, and two sisters, Gretchen and Dora.
