David E. Moon, 76, of Annawan, passed away on Saturday, January 19, 2019, at Hammond Henry Hospital, Geneseo with his wife by his side. Funeral Services to celebrate his life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Frida,y January 25, 2019, at Mineral United Methodist Church. Reverend Terry Lancaster will officiate. Visitation for David will be Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory, Atkinson Chapel. A Masonic Ritual will be conducted by the Walnut Masonic Lodge at 7:00 p.m. Cremation will be accorded following the services. A private inurnment will be held at a later date in the Mineral Cemetery. Memorials may be left to the Mineral-Gold Fire Department or the Annawan-Alba Public Library.
David was born May 27, 1942, in Kewanee, the son of Dale & Marjorie (Davies) Moon. He was a graduate of Mineral High School, attended Illinois State University for three years, and the University of Illinois for one year. He was united in marriage to Sandra L. Potesak on August 5, 1967. David farmed in rural Mineral Township for 50 years before retiring and moving to Annawan. He was a lifelong member of Mineral United Methodist Church, a 50-year member of the Sheffield Masonic Lodges which has now merged with Walnut Lodge. He truly loved golfing, woodworking, and most of all adored spending time with his family.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Sandra; children, Scott Moon, Mapleton, IL, Susan (James) Hartford, Arlington, VA, and Laura (Eric) Meyer, Chicago, IL; grandchildren, Amanda Moon, Michael Moon, Lily Hartford, Sebastian Meyer, and Aleksander Meyer.
David was preceded in death by his parents.
