Dolores A. “Uppy” Bridges
Dolores A. “Uppy” Bridges, 86, of Annawan, passed away on Friday, June 22, 2018, at Woodridge Assisted Living in Geneseo, surrounded by her loving family, where she had currently been residing. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 7, 2018 at the Annawan Community United Methodist Church. Reverend Dan Wright will officiate. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memory Gardens in Kewanee. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 6th from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory, Atkinson Chapel. Memorials may be directed to the Annawan Community United Methodist Church or the Annawan/Alba Rescue Squad.
Dolores was born on September 2, 1931, the daughter of William and Mary (Ioerger) Ufheil, in Annawan, Illinois. She graduated from Annawan High School with the class of 1949. Dolores was united in marriage to Jay C. Bridges on August 13, 1955, in Kewanee. Jay preceded her in death in 2011. Uppy was a waitress for many years at the former Sauk Trail Inn and Purple Onion in Annawan. She loved to travel with her husband and enjoyed going to the casino. Uppy was a fan of the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, and the Fighting Illini. She loved her grandchildren and made sure to stay up to date with all of their activities and talents.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Alan (Peggy) Bridges, of Madison, WI, and Dean (Liz) Bridges, of Tampa, FL, grandchildren, Chris Bridges, Jeff (Alejandra) Bridges, Kelly (Micah) Holt, Alissa (Erik) Massie, Dylan (Emily) Bridges, and Madison Bridges, brother, Willis Ufheil, of Annawan, and her sisters, Marilyn “Mick” Nowers, of Bloomington/Normal, and Sharon Humphrey, of Galva.
Dolores was preceded in death by her parents, William and Mary, husband, Jay, a sister, Ruth, and her brothers, Ken, Cal, and Herb Ufheil.
