Dorothy Quayle

Dorothy L. Quayle, 86, of Cambridge, passed away on Friday, March 09, 2018, at Good Samaritan in Geneseo, IL. A memorial visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 12, 2018, at Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory, Geneseo. Private inurnment will take place at Oakwood Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Dorothy Quayle Memorial Fund or a charity of donor’s choice. Cremation rites have been accorded.

Dorothy was born on May 1, 1931, the daughter of Charles E. and Cobie (Miller) McKinzie, in Moline, IL. She graduated from Geneseo High School with the class of 1949. Dorothy was united in marriage to Ivan Quayle in 1949. He preceded her in death in 1995. Dorothy was an LPN, first working at Hammond Henry Hospital in Geneseo, and later practicing under Dr. Young and Dr. DeGracia for many years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed sewing, crafting, ceramics, cooking, and golfing. Dorothy was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Rick Quayle, Cambridge, IL, and Bruce (Donna) Quayle, Peoria, IL; grandchildren, Courtney (Jon) Gentry, Matt (Kelli) Quayle, Jake (Erica Heid) Quayle, and Kelly Quayle-Piggot; and great-grandchildren, Maxx and Maelyn Gentry and Lilly and Ella Quayle. Her sisters are Dixie Lund, Osco, IL, and Helen Ludwig, Geneseo.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Cobie; husband, Ivan; grandson, Maice Quayle; two sisters, and one brother.
