Edward Coleman Obituary

Edward Joseph Coleman, 77, of rural Geneseo, passed away on Monday, May 27, 2019, at Hammond-Henry Hospital Long Term Care Living Center. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, May 31, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Malachy Catholic Church, 595 E. Ogden Ave., Geneseo. Visitation with the family will be held from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Father Michael Pakula will celebrate the Mass. Cremation will be accorded and a private inurnment will be held at a later date at Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo.  Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory - Geneseo Chapel is assisting with all the arrangements.

 

Ed was born in Eaton, Ohio, on June 26, 1941. He graduated from Dixon-Israel Township High School in Eaton and from The Ohio State University, in Columbus. On June 20, 1964, he married Christy Stare in Zanesville, Ohio. Ed was retired from sales, marketing, and finance positions with the John Deere Construction Equipment Division of Deere and Company, where he’d worked for 35 years. He was a member of the Geneseo Kiwanis and Ohio State University Alumni Association. After retirement, if he wasn’t mowing his lawn or attending estate auctions and tractor shows, Ed enjoyed traveling with his wife, Christy, and watching his grandsons play sports and perform in musicals, choirs, and concerts.

 

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Ella (Clancy) Coleman, of Eaton, Ohio. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Christy (Stare) Coleman of Geneseo; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Nancy (Tittel) Coleman of Woodbridge, VA; a brother-in-law, James Stare, of Fort Lauderdale, FL; his children and their spouses: Elizabeth Coleman of Minneapolis, MN; Anne (Coleman) and Gordon Sammons of Geneseo; Mike Coleman; and Steve and Susan (Cucci) Coleman of Geneseo. He is also survived by nine grandsons: Christian (Charleston, IL), Erik, Evan, Will, and Cy Sammons; and Connor, Daniel, Liam, and Ryan Coleman, all of Geneseo.
