Edward J. Galle

Edward J. Galle, 83, of Geneseo, passed away on Tuesday, January 02, 2018, at Heartland Healthcare Center in Moline, IL. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 5, 2018, at St. Malachy Catholic Church, Geneseo. Father Michael Pakula will celebrate. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 on Thursday, January 4, at Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory, Geneseo, where a scripture service will be held at 6:45p.m. Memorials may be directed to the Edward Galle Memorial Fund.

Ed was born on November 18, 1934, the son of Muriel and Josephine (Hermans) Galle, in Osco Township. He was a graduate of Geneseo High School in 1952. Ed married Marilyn Minnaert on October 15, 1955, in Atkinson, IL. Ed was a member of St. Malachy Catholic Church. He farmed in rural Cambridge for 28 years. Ed later worked for the Co-Op Gas & Oil Company in the Osco branch as manager for 14 years. Ed served on the Cambridge School Board for many years. Ed was a member of Knights of Columbus, ASCS Office Board, Henry County Pork Producers where he had served as past president, and Co-Op Gas & Oil Board. Ed enjoyed fishing, and loved his time outdoors with family and friends.

Those left to cherish his memory include, sons, Jeff (Pat) Galle, Pittsfield, IL, Dan (Emily) Galle, Cambridge, daughter, Peggy (Jerry) Hickenbottom, Cambridge, six grandchildren, Danielle (Jeff) Little, Travis (Ashley) Galle, Renee (fiancé Brandon Foley), and Kyler, Lucas, and Logan Hickenbottom, and five great-grandchildren. His sister, Janice DeFauw, Atkinson, also survives.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Muriel and Josephine, and by his sister, Dorothy Fuller.
