Elizabeth Alice "Betty" Carlson

Elizabeth Alice “Betty” Carlson, 92, of Geneseo, passed away on Tuesday, June 25, 2019, at Trinity Hospital – Rock Island Campus.  A graveside memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 28, 2019, at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline.  Deacon Harley Chaffee will officiate.  Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Geneseo Chapel will be assisting the family with arrangements. 

Elizabeth was born on January 11, 1927, the daughter of Joseph and Ann Mary (Renouf) Kerfont, in Newfoundland, Canada.  She married Carl W. “Bill” Carlson on March 19, 1946.  Betty and Carl met during World War II at Harmon Air Force Base, Newfoundland.  When the war was over, they flew back together on a Boeing B-17 Bomber to Boston, MA.  Carl preceded her in death on September 9, 2009.  Betty enjoyed spending time with her family and gardening.  She was an avid animal lover, even raising sheep and chickens.

Those left to cherish her memory include her loving son, Robert (Patricia) Carlson, DeKalb, IL; granddaughter, Bridget (Brian) Hadfield; grandson, Baron (Irene) Carlson; and great-grandson Liam Carlson.

Elizabeth “Betty” was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Carl, daughter, Beverly Carlson, son, Bert Carlson, and her brothers and sisters.
