Emery “Bill” Craig

Emery “Bill” Craig, 80, of Geneseo, passed away on Friday, May 11, 2018, at Unity Point Health – Trinity, Rock Island. A funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 15, 2018, at Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory, Geneseo Chapel. Deacon Harley Chaffee will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service at the funeral home. Cremation rites will be accorded following funeral services and a private inurnment will take place at Oakwood Cemetery on Wednesday, May 16, 2018. Memorials may be left to the E. “Bill” Craig Memorial Fund.

Bill was born on September 14, 1937, the son of Emery and Roberta (Mitchell) Craig, in Davenport, IA. He graduated from Davenport High School. Bill married Nancy K. Wilharber on November 30, 1963, in Davenport. Bill was a materials supervisor for Caterpillar, Inc. in Mt. Joy, for 34 years before his retirement in 1988. He stayed active with the company by becoming a member of the Caterpillar Retirees Group. After his retirement, Bill and Nancy provided the lunch wagon for the Stenzel Auction Co. Bill had been a youth baseball and football coach for many years and was a talented woodworker. He rode snowmobiles for many years and was an avid fan of auto racing. Bill was the biggest fan of all of his grandchildren and loved following their success and talents in their activities. He will be missed by his family for his heartfelt, happy tears and laughter during holidays, celebrations, and family gatherings.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Nancy, sons, Steve (Tracy) Craig, Bettendorf,  Jeff (Courtney) Craig, Kenosha, WI, and Bill (Michelle) Craig, Geneseo, grandchildren, Brandon (Larissa) Craig, Tyler, Katelin, Jacob, Alex, Samantha, Charley, Ella, Campbell, Alex, Trevor, Hailey, and Allison Craig, and his beloved dog, Barney.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Emery and Roberta.
