Eric A. Dietrich

Eric Austin Dietrich, 13, of Geneseo, died Wednesday, July 4, 2018, at the Lake of the Ozarks. A Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 10, at St. Malachy Catholic Church in Geneseo. Reverend Michael Pakula will celebrate. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 9, from 3:00-7:00 p.m. at Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory, Geneseo Chapel. In lieu of flowers and statuaries, the family requests that memorials be directed to the Eric Dietrich Memorial Fund.

Eric was born on May 22, 2005, the son of Shane E. and Joyce A. (Buerster) Dietrich, in Geneseo, Illinois. Eric would have been an eighth-grader at Geneseo Middle School in the fall. He enjoyed golfing and bowling and was a member of the PGA Junior Golf League at TPC Deere Run and the Geneseo Junior Bowling League. Eric loved to play Xbox with his friends. Eric loved making people laugh and always had a well-timed hug.  He was full of jokes, trivial facts, and loved doing card tricks.

Those left to cherish his memory include his parents, Shane and Joyce; sisters, Darci and Heather Dietrich; grandparents, Dean and Celia Dietrich of Dundas, IL, and Tom and Martha Buerster of Wendelin, IL; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Eric was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, and by his aunt, Dana.
