Evelyn L. Kicksey

Evelyn L. Kicksey, 106, a longtime resident of Colona, passed away on September 23, 2017, at Amber Ridge Assisted Living, in Moline, IL. Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 28, at Colona United Methodist Church.  Reverend Mark Horn will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery, Cambridge, IL. Visitation for Evelyn will be one hour prior to the services (10:00 -11:00 a.m.) at the church.  Memorials may be left to Colona United Methodist Church. Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements. 

Evelyn was born on August 18, 1911, the daughter of Lawrence and Daisy (Reed) Johnson, in Geneseo, IL.  She completed 11 years of school and married Fred J. Kicksey on April 2, 1955, in Cambridge, IL. He preceded her in death in 1980. Evelyn worked as the office assistant for the Cambridge Veterinarian Clinic for many years and was then a homemaker. She was a longtime and very active member of the Colona United Methodist Church. She was a member of the United Methodist Women, the Henry County Republican Women and was active with the Colona Senior Citizens. Evelyn enjoyed flower gardening and yardwork, baking, quilting and spending time with her family.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Joyce Falline, Moline, IL, step-daughter, Joy (Gene) McCord, 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 17 great great grandchildren and her very dear friends, Armonda and Brenda Veloz.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Fred, daughters and son-in-laws, Shirley (Don) Griggs and Janet (Henry) Sellers. Step-daughter and spouse, Janet (Larry) McElwee, son-in-law Wayne Falline, grandson Scott Falline, brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth (Darlene) Johnson and sister and brother-in-law Florence (Bill) Nebergall also preceded Evelyn.
