Frederick W. Baker

Frederick W. Baker, 75, of Mineral, IL, passed away, Friday, November 17, 2017, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, IL. A celebration of life will be held from 2:00-4:00 p.m. on December 2, 2017, at the Mineral Community Center. Memorials may be left to the family of Frederick Baker. Per his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory, Atkinson is assisting the family with these arrangements.

Frederick was born on January 8, 1942, the son of Warren and Maxine (Blair) Baker, in Davenport, IA. He graduated from New Boston High School. Frederick had been married to Kathleen McDonald. He worked as a laborer in Union Local #309 in Rock Island, IL, and retired from the Cordova Nuclear Plant in 1999. He enjoyed old Western movies, was an avid pool shooter, enjoyed throwing picks, and loved animals. He is a former member of the Masonic Lodge.

Those left to cherish his memory include his longtime companion, Judith (Judy) Crosby, Mineral, and his children Tonya (John) Saner, Batavia, IA, Frederick William Baker Jr., Denver, CO, Karrie Osborn, Emerson, IA, Andrea Baker, Moline, IL, Laura Baker, Davenport and Jennifer Baker, Moline. He has 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. His sisters are Sandra (Fred) Stearns, Aledo, IL, and Sharon (Bob) Bloomberg, Colona, IL. Fred has three nieces and two nephews.

Frederick was preceded in death by his son, Stephen Baker and his parents.
