Joan M Emerick

Joan M. Emerick, 78, of Geneseo, passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2019, at Hammond Henry Hospital – Emergency Room, Geneseo.  Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 9, 2019, at St. Malachy Catholic Church, Geneseo.  Deacon Harley Chaffee will officiate.  Burial will follow at North Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Monday, July 8, 2019, from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.  Memorials may be directed to the Joan Emerick Memorial Fund.

Joan was born on August 14, 1940, the daughter of Charles and Virginia (Dappen) Naert, in Moline, IL.  She attended Alleman High School, graduating in 1958.  She married Marvin E. Emerick on October 24, 1970.  He preceded her in death in 2007.  Joan worked at Pink’s Bus Service as a bus driver for many years.  She was a member of St. Malachy Catholic Church, participated in the Geneseo Kitchen Band, and especially loved watching her grandchildren’s sporting events.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Wendy (Jim) Vanacker, Geneseo, IL; her son, Troy (Amanda) Emerick, Geneseo; grandchildren, Cody, Andrew, Katelynn, Mason; step-grandchildren, Karlee, Korryn, Ashley; great-grandchild, Paislee; ; brother Larry (Kathy) Naert, Las Vegas, NV; sister-in-law, Pam Naert, Carbon Cliff; brother-in-law, Don Schupp, Mineral, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Marvin, one brother, and one sister.
