Joseph Talbot Obituary

Joseph S. Talbot, 78, of rural Geneseo, passed away on Monday, April 30, 2018, at his home. Cremation rites have accorded and a private inurnment service with military honors will be held at the Rock Island National Cemetery. Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory, Geneseo is assisting the family with these arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge – 750 Hawkins Drive, Iowa City, IA 52246.

 

Joe was born on February 28th, 1940, the son of Joseph B. and Helen Louise (Wickblom) Talbot. He was raised in Cambridge, IL. He was the husband of Roseanna (Carter) Talbot. They shared 47 years of marriage together. Joe was a graduate of Cambridge High School and received a Bachelor of Art degree from Columbia College in Chicago. He was also a veteran of the United States Navy. Joe worked as a news editor at American Broadcasting Company in Chicago for 38 years. He loved fishing trips with his family and hunted for morel mushrooms. Joe was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He enjoyed showing off his 1938 Buick at car shows with his son. He was a skilled gardener and a wonderful cook. Joe had an extraordinary work ethic and loved to tell stories.

 

Joe is survived by his wife, Roseanna; son, John Talbot; daughter, Anna (Umair) Ahmed; and three grandchildren, Jameel, Alayna, and Lyla.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Helen, and brother, John E. Talbot.
