Karen K. Cooprider

Karen K. Cooprider, 77, of Geneseo, IL, passed away peacefully Thursday, October 26, 2017, at her home in Geneseo, surrounded by her family. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, October 30^th, at 10:30 a.m. at Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory, Geneseo. Reverend Dr. Chris Ritter will officiate. Burial will follow at Greenview Memorial Gardens in East Moline. Visitation will be held Sunday, October 29^th, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be left to the Karen Cooprider Memorial Fund.

Karen was born on December 3^rd, 1939, the daughter of Oscar and Dorothy (Meek) Malmstrom, in Moline, IL. She was united in marriage to Paul R. Cooprider on October 13, 1955, in Rock Island, IL. Paul preceded her in death in 2011. Karen worked in the housekeeping department for Hammond Henry Hospital for ten years. She was a member of many organizations including Women of the Moose, Eagles Club, Geneseo Junior Women’s Club, Henry County Home Extension, Viking Club, Moline, German Heritage Club, Davenport, and a Thursday girl’s group. Karen enjoyed being a part of a card-playing group. Karen was a member of First United Methodist Church in Geneseo.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Nanette (David) Witt, LeClaire, IA; her sons, David (Debhora Guadian) Cooprider, Manteca, CA, Mark (Doreen) Cooprider, Moline, and Michael (Brenda) Cooprider, Englewood, CO. She is also survived by ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Her sisters are JoAnne Hantz, MI, Gerry (Jim) Graham, Hampton, IL, and Debbie (Andy) Berglund, Silvis, IL.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Dorothy, her husband, Paul, and one grandson, Justin Gengler.
