Kathy A. Gleason

Kathy A. Gleason, 63, of Geneseo, formerly of Kewanee, passed away Wednesday, November 8, 2017, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL. A Funeral Mass celebrating her life will be held at 10:30 a.m. at St. Malachy Catholic Church on Tuesday, November 14, 2017. Father Michael Pakula will celebrate. Inurnment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will take place Monday, November 13, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory, Geneseo. The Rosary will be recited at 6:45 p.m. Memorials may be left to St. Malachy Catholic Church. Cremation rites have been accorded.

Kathy was born on June 22, 1954, the daughter of Robert and Loretta Swarts, in Kewanee, IL. She graduated from Kewanee High School, and then attended Black Hawk College East. She received an LPN, and Black Hawk College West, where she received an RN. Kathy married Don Gleason at Visitation Catholic Church in Kewanee on September 23, 1978. She worked as an RN at Hammond Henry Hospital for 25 years and Genesis Medical Center in Silvis for five years. Kathy loved to cook, spend time in her flower garden, and participate in girls night out with her friends. She will be remembered for bringing her longtime, loving friends together. Kathy was a member of St. Malachy Catholic Church, and Geneseo Women of the Moose.

She is survived by her husband, Don; sons, Matt (Molly) Gleason, Long Grove, IA, and Mark Gleason, East Moline; and five grandchildren, and four step-grandchildren. Kathy is also survived by her very special aunt, Patricia Fredrickson-Olson, Prior Lake, MN.

Kathy was preceded in death by her mother and father.
