Laudene E. Henson

Laudene Henson, 87, of Geneseo, passed away on Saturday, December 22, 2018, at Hammond Henry Hospital in Geneseo. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 28, at the First Baptist Church in Geneseo. Pastor David Murphy will officiate. Burial will be at the Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 27, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., at Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory, Geneseo Chapel. Memorials may be directed to the Henry County Humane Society or the Geneseo Food Pantry.

Laudene was born on January 30, 1931, the daughter of Ambrose and Sophia (Brooks) Davis, in Waldron, AR. She received her associate’s degree from Lassen College in Susanville, CA. Laudene married Jacob Dahl in November of 1959, they later separated and Jacob preceded her in death in 1985. Laudene was united in marriage to Thomas Henson on May 6, 1971. Thomas preceded her in death in 1999. She was a government employee for 15 years and had been employed at the Rock Island Arsenal as well as the Sierra Army Depot in Herlong, CA. Laudene was a member of the First Baptist Church in Geneseo and was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Randy (Tracie) Dahl, of Geneseo; daughter, Kathy (Steven) Huybers, of Reno, NV; and five grandchildren, Johanna (Matt Traub) Huybers, David Huybers, Christian Huybers, Jonathan Dahl, and Jacob Dahl.

Laudene was preceded in death by her parents, Ambrose and Sophia, son, Gregory Dahl, her husband, Thomas, and brother, A.A. Davis.
