Lorrin A. Buechler

Lorrin A. Buechler, 84, of Geneseo, passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at Good Samaritan Village in Geneseo. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 2nd, 2018 at First Lutheran Church in Geneseo. Reverend Matt Kamprath will officiate. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Geneseo. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service, 9:30-10:30 a.m., at the church. Memorials may be directed to the First Lutheran Church in Geneseo. Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory, Geneseo is assisting the family with these arrangements.

Lorrin was born on April 1, 1933, the son of Robert and Ruby (Klavohn) Buechler, in Geneseo, IL. He graduated from Geneseo High School in 1951, and served for two years in the United States Army, spending 14 months in Korea. Lorrin was united in marriage to Donna M. Nelson in October of 1953. She preceded him in death on June 21, 2012. Lorrin was a longtime member of the First Lutheran Church in Geneseo. He worked as a smoked meats supervisor at Oscar Mayer & Co. in Davenport, IA for over 36 years before his retirement in 1992. Lorrin was active in his community and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He enjoyed golfing at the Geneseo Country Club, where he was a longtime member, and loved his two Yorkshire Terrier puppies.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Larry (Donna) Buechler, Sherrard, IL, and Darcy (Ken) Hebdon, CO. His six grandchildren are, Debra, David, Justin, Jacob, Kalen, and Sarah, and he has three great-grandchildren. Lorrin is survived by his brother, Don Buechler, sister, Mildred (Jim) Weisser, both of Geneseo, and sister, Marilyn (Larry) Christensen, Torrance, CA.

Lorrin was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Ruby, his loving wife Donna, and a brother.
