Mack E. Gardner

Mack E. Gardner, 82, of Geneseo, passed away Sunday, October 29, 2017, at Unity Point Health-Trinity Rock Island. A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, November 3^rd, at St. Malachy Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m. Father Michael Pakula will celebrate. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo. Military Honors will be accorded by Don Cherry VFW Post #5083. Visitation will be held Thursday, November 2^nd, at Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory, Geneseo, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Memorials may be left to the Mack Gardner Memorial Fund.

Mack was born on March 5^th, 1935, the son of Samuel and Marjorie (Wade) Gardner, in Scotland, Arkansas. He married Bernadine C. Oberstar on April 21, 1956 in Seattle, Washington. Mack worked as the superintendent of the FAB Division at Illini Beef in Joslin, IL, and then as the superintendent for Superior Pack in Dixon, CA. He retired in 1989. Mack was a member of the Knights of Columbus, 4^th Degree, and a member of the Geneseo Moose Lodge #990. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling, and gardening. Mack is a veteran of the United States Navy.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Bernadine; sons, Glenn (Dianne) Gardner, Everett, WA, Frank (Cheryl) Gardner, Zionsville, IN, and Jerry (Evie) Gardner, Geneseo, IL. His grandchildren are Heidi, Korey, Jeremy, Ben, Logan, Cole, and Paige. Mack is also survived by great-grandchildren, Archer and Jude. His brothers are Bill Gardner, AK, and Wade Gardner, MO.

Mack was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Marjorie, two sisters, and two brothers.
