Marie E. Boone, 87, of Geneseo, passed away on Thursday, August 16, 2018, at Hammond Henry Long Term Care, in Geneseo. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 22, 2018, at St. Malachy Catholic Church. Reverend Michael Pakula will celebrate. Burial will follow at North Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, August 21, 2018, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory, Geneseo Chapel, where the Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be directed to Geneseo Kiwanis Club or St. Malachy Catholic School.
Marie was born on April 20, 1931, the daughter of Thomas J. and Mae (Schumaker) Wiley, in Rock Island, Illinois. She is a graduate of Galva High School with the class of 1949. She was united in marriage to Vincent A. Boone on June 26, 1954, at St. Malachy Catholic Church in Geneseo. Vincent preceded her in death on September 9, 1974. Marie was a life-long member of St. Malachy Catholic Church, where she remained active in Altar & Rosary Society and Circle 7 and participated in Parents Club of St. Malachy School. She worked as a waitress and hostess at the former Deck Plaza in Geneseo for many years and was a World Book Encyclopedia sales associate. Marie also owned and operated Boone's Catering in Geneseo, and her catering company fed the Geneseo Kiwanis Club for many years. She enjoyed playing bingo & Yahtzee, listening to old country music and dancing. She loved coffee and red roses and could play any instrument by ear.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Julie (Ed) Bauman, Geneseo, Cindy (Jason Wilkins) Boone, Geneseo, Pat (Sue) Boone, Geneseo, Lorraine (Curt) Brooks, Rapids City, Marty Boone, Geneseo, Terry Boone, Geneseo, Tim (Candy) Boone, Geneseo, and Jason (Wendy) Boone, Geneseo; 20 grandchildren, and 33 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Loretta Wiley, Geneseo, her special friend, Julian Valdez, and her friend and caregiver, Cindy Raschke.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Mae, husband, Vincent, seven brothers, and one sister.
