Marilyn Rose DePauw, 63, of Geneseo, IL passed away Thursday, October 26, 2017 at Unity Point Trinity in Rock Island, IL. A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Malachy Catholic Church, Geneseo. Father Michael Pakula will officiate. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, October 30, from 4:00-7:00 p.m., with the Rosary being recited at 3:45 p.m. at Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory, Geneseo. Memorials may be left to the Marilyn Rose DePauw Memorial Fund.

 

Marilyn Rose was born on December 11, 1953, the daughter of Howard and Florence (Goddard) Putney, in Rock Island. She graduated from Rock Island High School and attended Black Hawk College, where she earned an Associates Degree in Arts. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree of Science and Education at Illinois State University. Marilyn was united in marriage to Joseph R. DePauw on September 16, 1978 at St. John Catholic Church in Rapid City, IL. She was a proud member of the Geneseo Music Club, where she could display her love and talent for singing. Marilyn was also a member of St. Malachy Altar & Rosary Society, and enjoyed spending time with her loved ones and her cats.

 

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Joe DePauw, her sons, Alex (Kayla) DePauw, El Paso, IL, and Ben (Steffanie Cotton) DePauw, Moline, IL, and her daughter, Abby Rose DePauw, Geneseo. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Maison and Ember Rose, and Penelope Rose. Additional survivors are her mother-in-law, Jeanette DePauw, Geneseo, sisters-in-law Rosemary (Ed) Osborn and Peggy (Byron) Walker, both of Rock Island, and brothers-in-law, Bob (Pam) DePauw, Port Byron, IL, and Ed DePauw, Geneseo. Marilyn will also be missed by her special friends, Harvey and Nancy Green, Mary Wassell, and Jeanne Anderson.

 

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Florence, and her sister, Pam Putney.
