Marjorie V. Dynes

Marjorie V. Dynes, 84, of rural Annawan, passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2018, at Unity Point Health in Rock Island, IL. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. at Fairview United Methodist Church in rural Annawan, on Saturday, January 27, 2018. Reverend Dan Wright will officiate. Burial will follow at the Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 26, at Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory, Atkinson. Memorials may be directed to the Fairview Church or Atkinson Rescue Squad.

Marjorie was born on April 4, 1933, the daughter of Wallace and Helen (Searle) Moody. She graduated from Cambridge High School and attended Augustana College where she received her nursing degree. Marjorie was united in marriage to William H. Dynes Jr. on March 9, 1958, in Cambridge, IL. William preceded her in death in 2008. She worked as a nurse at the former St. Luke Hospital in Davenport, and then the last 20 years at the Franciscan Hospital in Rock Island, which is now Trinity. She was a member of the Methodist Women’s group and enjoyed going to bible study, being a lay minister at church, and participating in the church band. Marjorie also had a great talent in cross-stitching.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Mark (Bonnie) Dynes, Irrigon, OR, Brett (Pam) Dynes, Kewanee, IL, and Martin (Shelly) Dynes, Annawan, IL, along with her 8 grandchildren, one step-grandchild, and 7 great-grandchildren. Her brother is Dwight (Claudia) Moody, Cambridge, IL.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, Wallace and Helen, husband, William, and her sister Carolyn Knudson.
