Marjorie E. Gray

Marjorie E. Gray, 74, of Orion, passed away suddenly on Saturday, March 31, 2018, at Genesis Medical Center – Illini Campus Emergency Room, in Silvis, IL. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 5, 2018, at Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory, Geneseo Chapel. Reverend Melva England will officiate. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, April 4, from 4:30-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Arthritis Foundation. Per her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.

Marjorie was born on January 8, 1944, the daughter of Ferris and Ruth (Sander) Hanks, in Muscatine, IA. She graduated from Lowden High School in Lowden, IA. Marjorie was united in marriage to Russell D. Gray on January 9, 1965, in Cedar Rapids, IA. She worked as a legal secretary for a law firm in Rock Island, IL for over 20 years. Marjorie was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church and Women of the Moose. She enjoyed scrap-booking, doing puzzles, crafting, reading, and cooking for family gatherings. Marjorie loved reading the “Maxine!” comics.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Russell, daughter, Terri Knutson, St. Louis, MO, son, Todd (Kelly) Gray, Geneseo, and two grandsons, Connor, and Samuel Knutson, St. Louis, MO. Marjorie is also survived by her brothers, Lynn (Sherry) Hanks, Mechanicsville, IA, Harlan (Ellen) Hanks, Tipton, IA, and Bill Hanks, TN.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, Ferris and Ruth, brother, Larry Hanks, and son-in-law David Knutson.
