Michael L. Keegan

Michael L. Keegan, 67, of Geneseo, passed away on Tuesday, March 6, 2018, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL. A private graveside service is scheduled for Monday, March 12, 2018 at Oakwood Cemetery. Deacon Harley Chaffee will officiate. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society or a charity of the donor’s choice. Cremation rites have been accorded. Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory, Geneseo is assisting the family with these arrangements.

Michael was born on January 7, 1951, the son of Willard Keegan and Arlene (Phillips) Keegan-Morehouse, in Geneseo, IL. He graduated from the Roosevelt Military Academy in Aledo, IL. Michael married Sue E. McElwee on June 16, 1973, in Geneseo. He worked for John Deere in the seeding division for 30 years. He retired from the maintenance department. Michael had a passion for drag racing and gardening. He loved spending time with family and spending time with his friends at the Cordova Drag-Way. Michael also loved spending time with his constant companion and fur baby, Addy.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Sue; son, Kris (Jennifer) Keegan, Geneseo; daughter, Nikki (Phil) Smith, Geneseo; and granddaughters, Kameryn Keegan, Taylor, and Tristen Smith. He is also survived by his brother, Earl (Laura) Keegan, FL, and several nieces & nephews.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Arlene; sister, Pam Keegan; and brother, James Keegan.
