Patricia Earline Korthals
Patricia Earline Korthals, 82, passed away, Tuesday, September 18, 2018, at her residence in Geneseo, Illinois. Cremation rites have been accorded and a memorial service will be planned at a later date. Memorials may be written to the Patricia Korthals' Memorial Fund and forwarded to Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory, Geneseo. Memorials will be distributed to a cancer association of the family’s choice.
Patricia, daughter of Earl and Anna (Olsen) Anderson, was born August 30, 1936, in Andover, Illinois. On November 16, 1952, Patricia married William Carl Korthals Jr. from Geneseo. They were the parents of four daughters and two sons. The Korthals lived in Geneseo, both rural and in town through the years. Patricia was a devoted mother and homemaker. She was most proud of her family, and was a loving grandmother to her seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Patricia enjoyed gardening, canning and watching her grandchildren participate in showing their horses. She had a fondness for raising goats, and gained great satisfaction in selling fresh goat’s milk. She especially cherished preparing family and holiday meals, and the joy of bringing her family together. Patricia was strong in her Christian faith and enjoyed showing her faith through her large collection of angels that she had collected. Patricia will be remembered as a caring and compassionate person to family and friends.
Patricia is survived by her husband, William, Kewanee, IL, daughters, Donna (Patrick) Patten, Auburn, Ca, Beverly (Scott) Nelson, Atkinson, IL, son, Robert Korthals, Geneseo, seven grandchildren, Thomas (Jennifer) and Timothy Sawyer, Jennifer (Michael) Cottrell, Izaak (Allison) Patten, Elizabeth and Sarah Korthals and Seth Nelson. She has eight great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Korthals was preceded in death by two daughters, Gloria Korthals Rhodes and Trisha Korthals Edwards, son, Kenneth Korthals, her parents, Earl and Anna, two sisters and five brothers.
