Steven J. Haverback

Steven J. “Bone” Haverback, 60, of Annawan, passed away Monday, June 17, 2013, at his home after a four year battle with cancer.  A Funeral Mass celebrating Steven’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 22, 2013, at Sacred Heart Church, Annawan.  Father Mark Miller will celebrate.  Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Annawan.  Visitation for Steve will be held 5-7 p.m. Friday at Vandemore Funeral Home in Atkinson, IL.  Memorials may be left to Annawan/Alba Fire Rescue or Illinois Cancer Care.

Steven was born July 6, 1952, in Kewanee, IL, the son of Bill and Helen (VanDeKeere) Haverback.  He was a 1970 graduate of Annawan High School.  Steve worked for Hatzer and Nordstrom as a farmhand for 21 years.  Bone enjoyed playing rolle bolle.  

Survivors include his significant other, Debi Gradert of Annawan; brother, Marvin (Barb) Haverback of Annawan; two sisters, Doris (Tom) Baele of Annawan, and Sister Betty Jean Haverback of Immaculate Conception Convent, Peoria; and several nieces and nephews.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
