Tammy Sue Burris

Tammy Sue Galle-Burris, of Geneseo, passed away suddenly on Friday, October 5, 2018, at her home, at the age of 42 years, 5 months, and 24 days. Cremation rites have been accorded and a memorial service will be planned for a later date. Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of these arrangements.

Tammy Sue was born on December 12, 1975, the daughter of Jim and Diane Galle, in Geneseo, Illinois. She was baptized as a child at St. Malachy Catholic Church and attended J.D. Darnall High School. She graduated with the class of 1994. As a child, Tammy always found herself in the outdoors, enjoying fishing trips, on lake shores, and walking around town. She lived life in the fast lane. In 1996, Devin Marie Burris was born to Tammy and Robert Burris. Tammy’s father, James Galle, passed away on September 25, 2004. She was previously employed with I.B.P., Becks, Cenex, Farm & Fleet, Springfield Armory, and most recently Dollar General, all in Geneseo. In 2011, Luv Velma June Hemilburger was born to Michael Hemilburger and Tammy Sue. Tammy was also a proud member of the V.F.W. and Moose Lodge, in tribute to her father, James, who was a military veteran.

Tammy will always be remembered for her uplifting spirit, and her ability to help those who were down on their luck and her fearlessness to stand up for what she believed in. She loved talking about life and the shared struggles and triumphs of others. She would always give to others when she could, and continues to give the gift of life, even in death, through the selfless act of organ and tissue donation through Gift of Hope.

Tammy is survived by her mother, Diane Galle, of Gary, South Dakota, and two daughters, Devin Marie Burris, of Sherman Oaks, California, and Luv Velma June Hemilburger, of Geneseo. She was preceded in death by her father, James Galle.
