Vivian Kane

Vivian Kane, 97, of Geneseo, passed away on Monday, June 10, 2019, at Hillcrest Home, Geneseo.  Funeral services to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 25, 2019, at Concordia Lutheran Church, Geneseo.  Reverend Stephen Mueller will officiate.  Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 1 – 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 25, 2019, at the church.  Memorials may be directed to Concordia Lutheran Church.  Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Geneseo Chapel, will be assisting with the arrangements.

Vivian was born November 12, 1921, the daughter of James and Lillian (Rice) Ward, born in rural Geneseo.  She graduated from Geneseo High School in 1939.  She married Maurice Kane on July 4, 1940, at Edford Lutheran Church.  Maurice preceded her in death on September 29, 2002.  Vivian managed the office at her late husband’s business, Mark Lane Advertising, for over 30 years.  She enjoyed playing bridge and was a member of several bridge clubs.  She enjoyed playing golf in a couple of leagues at Ford Golf Course. She was an active member of Concordia Lutheran church and attended couples’ clubs at church with her late husband.  She loved her family and always looked forward to phone calls from her son Jerry.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Jerry (Marj) Kane, Crofton, MD; grandchildren,  Jeff (Meredith) Kane, South Riding, VA, Steve (Amy) Kane, Aldie, VA; great-grandchildren, Matthew, Rachel, Ella, and Sophie; nieces, Linda Hill, Madison, AL; Cyndee (Mike) Marciniak, Darien, IL; nephews, Jim (Barbara) Kane, Peoria, IL, Mark Erdman, Geneseo, IL; sister-in-law Elizabeth Erdman, Geneseo, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Lillian, her husband of 62 years, Maurice, and her sister, Carol Cox.
