Anita M. Christ

Anita Marie (Brooks) Christ, 65, of Geneseo, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family on Saturday, June 14, 2025. The family will be hosting a Celebration of Life for her on Saturday, June 21st at The Geneseo Moose Lodge from 12:00 - 4:00 p.m.  A private burial, where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, will be at Western Township Cemetery, Orion. Vandemore Funeral Homes Crematory - Geneseo will be assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family, which will be distributed amongst Anita’s favorite charities.

Anita was born July 27, 1959, the daughter of Edgar L. and Doris (Sondgeroth) Brooks. She was a 1977 graduate of Geneseo High School. She was wed to Reno Ford from 1979 until their dissolution in 1989. She married her soul mate, Wayne Christ, on October 20, 1990, in Osco, IL. He preceded her in death. She was employed by Eagles Country Store from 1975 until closing in 2002, and she continued working for Jewel-Osco. Then spent 10 years working in dietary at Hammond Henry Hospital, before going to dietary at Woodridge to be closer to her Mother. There were many mornings throughout the years you would find her helping Bill out at the Geneseo Donut Shop. Anita was always there to help anyone in need, even if it was just to bring a smile to their face. She enjoyed reading, crafting, cooking, and spending as much time as possible with her family. Many of her fondest memories were family vacations with her children and grandchildren.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Crystal (Bill) Giebel, Holly (Justin) Miklebost, Travis Christ, Kyle (Angelina) Christ, Trina Lentz, and Nikia May and many others whom she was “mom” to. Grandchildren, Dominik Miklebost, Dominic Nimrick, Paysli Christ, Lilly May, Bailey Christ, Luke Christ, Austyn May, Dylan Christ, Jacob Christ, Journey Christ. Her mother, Doris Brooks. Siblings, Glenn Brooks, Mary Jo (Jim) Brummet, Leon (Veronica) Brooks, Donna (Mike) Westerlund, Dave (Michelle) Brooks. Sister-in-law’s Marcy (Ron) Dierikx, Jackie Brooks, Julie (Aaron) Lough. Several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Christ; twin brother, Dennis Brooks; niece, Joyce Dierikx; and father, Edgar Brooks.
