Arthur L. Wallgren

Arthur L. Wallgren, 84, of rural Erie, formerly of Hooppole, passed away on Monday, July 02, 2018, at Hillcrest Home in Geneseo, IL. A family-directed memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 7, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary E.C. Church in Hooppole, IL. Reverend Eugene Baker will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service (10:00-11:00 a.m.) at the church. Cremation rites have been accorded and a private inurnment will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Arthur Wallgren Memorial Fund and will be distributed among several local organizations. Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory, Geneseo is assisting the family with these arrangements.

Arthur was born on December 3, 1933, the son of Roy and Bertha Wallgren, in rural Bureau County, IL. He married B. Jean Strohman on April 27, 1962, in Hooppole, IL. He was a machinist at Penberthy Company in Prophetstown, IL, for many years. Arthur was also a long-time volunteer on the Hooppole Fire Department. He was a member of Calvary E.C. Church in Hooppole. He served as head usher and was a member of the church board. Arthur enjoyed hunting, fishing, and bird watching. He truly loved all wildlife and the outdoors.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Jean; son, Martin (Kathy) Wallgren, of Erie, IL; daughter, Jennifer (Daniel Israel) Wallgren, of Kewanee; five grandchildren, Toby Wallgren, Malachi, Mikah, Mikayla, and Makyra Israel; brother, Glen Wallgren, of Port Isabell, TX; and sister, Peggy (Don) Dietz, of Kenai, Alaska.

Arthur was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Bertha, and by his brother, Kenny Wallgren.
