Arvilla A. Ritter, 90, of Geneseo, passed away on Friday, September 27, 2024, peacefully at her home. A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Friday, October 4, 2024, at Loraine Church with a visitation from 10-11 AM prior to the service. Pastor Rod Dye will officiate. Burial will follow at Sharon Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory – Geneseo Chapel on Thursday October 3, 2024, from 5-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials will be directed to Loraine Church.
Arvilla Ritter was born in Geneseo on July 2, 1934, the daughter of Glen and Nellie (Delphey) Franks. She graduated from Geneseo High School in 1952. She married the love of her life, Donald Ritter, on July 4, 1952, in DuQoin, IL and they spent 72 years together. Arvilla was a Nurse Aide for 30 years at Good Samaritan. She enjoyed going fishing with Jim and Carol in Alabama. Arvilla was an extensive teddy bear collector. She loved to bake and helped make apple pies for the church. She was a proud member of evening circle at Loraine Church, where she also taught Sunday school and was the Sunday school superintendent.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Donald; sons, Les (Roxanne) Ritter of Geneseo, IL, James (Carol) Ritter of Vernon, AL; daughters, Diana Bos of Geneseo, IL, Teresa (Steve) Tuttle of Ravena, OH; 15 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Glen and Nellie; brothers, Morris Franks, Morton Franks, and D. Edison Franks; grandsons Cody Tuttle and Leevon Ritter.
