Barbara Jean (Payne) Kelley

Barbara Jean Kelley, 70, of Colona, IL, passed away on Sunday, July 16, 2023, at her home surrounded by family.  Per the families’ wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and no services are to be held at this time.  Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Geneseo Chapel is assisting the family.  

Barb was born March 26, 1953, the daughter of Cecil and Lora (Stephenson) Payne, in Moline, IL.  She graduated from Riverdale High School and went on to receive an associate degree.  She married John Kelley on May 13, 1972. Barb loved reading, genealogy, flowers, crafting, shopping, crocheting, puzzles, and going to casinos.  She had a strong belief in her Christian faith, was a former member of Colona Fire Department auxiliary, and Eagles Club-East Moline.  Barb loved spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren.

Those left to cherish her family include her children; Shawn Kelley, David (Chris) Kelley, Amy (Mark) Finin, and Eric (Lisa) Kelley all of Geneseo; step-daughters, Deb Stephens of Colona, Bobbi Jo Kelley of Carbon Cliff, and Darlene Lee of Moline; grandchildren, Alexis (Alex) Feldman, Christian Kelley, Jordan Holke, Nate (Alexis) Finin, Emilee Finin, and many step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild on the way, Leila Finin; brothers; Ralph (Sharon) Payne of Rock Island, Bob (Sandy) Payne of Hampton, Tom (Kimberly) Payne of Moline, sisters, Maryann (Jim Burnett) Payne of Carbondale, IL, and Nancy Schultz of Rapid City.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Lora Payne and husband, John Kelley.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Nancy Schultz for helping with Barbara’s care.  They also would like to thank all the friends and neighbors for the love and support shown to Barb over the years.
