Barbara M. Norton

Barbara M. “Bubbles” Norton, 90, of Annawan, IL, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at her home surrounded by family. Per her wishes private graveside services will be held at Annawan Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Annawan Community United Methodist Church or Annawan-Alba Fire and Rescue.

Barbara was born at home in Annawan on March 7, 1933, the daughter of Raymond and Laura (Emmert) Moon. She graduated from Annawan High School Class of 1951. She married Robert Norton on June 27, 1954, and he survives. Barbara was a kind, generous, loving, and devoted wife and mother. She had a huge heart and everyone that she met loved her. She loved being a homemaker and spending countless hours working with Bob at the insurance agency. Traveling with Bob, the kids and grandkids always made her happy. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and going to all the kids and grandkids’ activities. Barbara was a member of Annawan Community United Methodist Church and served as the Sunday school teacher for numerous years.

Those left to cherish her memory are husband, Robert Norton, daughters; Sue DeSmith of Annawan, Beth (Marty) DeDecker of Annawan, Karen (Kevin) Curran of Davenport, IA and Jan (Pete Savage) Norton of Annawan, grandchildren; Brooke (Mark) Bomleny, Abby (Cody) Morris, Michael DeDecker, Matthew (Rachel) DeDecker, Molly DeDecker, Brady Curran, Kelly (Patrick) Gerdes and Meghan (Justin Keen) Curran, great grandchildren; Stella, Josie, Ryder, Avery, Wyatt, Parker and Hadley.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Donald Moon.
