Barbara S. Comp, 78, of Annawan, passed away on Monday, December 28, 2020, at the Kewanee Care Center, Kewanee, IL. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 on Saturday, January 9, 2021, at Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Atkinson Chapel. Reverend Terry Lancaster will officiate. Burial will follow at Sheffield Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9 – 10 a.m. on Saturday, at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Annawan - Alba Fire and Rescue Squad.
Barb was born on August 31, 1942, the daughter of Paul and Bonnie (Warren) Janis, in St. Louis, MO. She graduated from Roosevelt High School, St. Louis, MO. She married William “Bill” Comp on July 3, 1965, in a ceremony held in Buda, IL. He preceded her in death on June 22, 2007. She enjoyed gardening, camping, and fishing. She loved traveling, especially to Las Vegas. She loved cats, especially Mr. Misty! Barb was part of history by being a part of the first all-woman Amoco gasoline station staff in Geneseo, where Walgreen’s is now located.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sister, Nancy (Dennis) Doran, Poplar Bluff, MO; stepson, Craig (April) Comp-Johnson, Effingham, IL; one niece, Angela Caldwell; two nephews, Michael Doran and family, and Christopher Doran and family; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Bonnie; husband, Bill; and nephew, Sean Doran.
